Chris Hemsworth has been out promoting George Miller’s Furiosa, and inevitably there were questions about the MCU and where Thor could go next. He had some pointed words to say about those who criticize superhero movies, and in particular, those who point to the genre as harmful to cinema. He said:

“…cinema-going did not change because of superheroes, but because of smartphones and social media. Superhero films actually kept people in the cinemas during that transition and now people are coming back. So they deserve a little more appreciation.”

Elsewhere on the promotional trail for the latest Mad Max entry, there were some other comments that have got fans of the MCU all excited. Director George Miller is a big fan of Hemsworth after working with him. The feeling was mutual, with Hemsworth calling it his most enjoyable filmmaking experience.

Miller

So, of course Comicbook.com asked Miller if he would consider working on a fifth Thor movie with Hemsworth:

“I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills. I mean, you’ve got to be athletic, physically. But, you also gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really.”

Miller had a near miss with the genre himself, as he was signed on to write and direct a Justice League movie back in the 2000s. They had already cast and were doing costume tests when it was unceremoniously canceled.

They would have beaten the Avengers to the team-up movie by several years if they had not been canned.

Hemsworth-MCU

Could Disney follow up on this to tempt Miller into the MCU? Hemsworth has a lot of pull at the studio these days.
