Micah Richards delivers ‘honest’ verdict on Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski after Tottenham beat Burnley

Micah Richards has delivered his verdict on Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski after Tottenham Hotspur beat Burnley on Saturday.

Spurs ended a run of four consecutive defeats in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Vincent Kompany’s side.

The result resigned Burnley to Championship football next season as Micky van de Ven struck late to hand Tottenham all three points.

It keeps Ange Postecoglou’s side in with a narrow chance of pipping Aston Villa to a top-four finish. But should Unai Emery’s men beat Liverpool at Villa Park tonight, fifth place will be the best Spurs can aim for.

Tottenham weren’t exactly convincing in their win over Burnley as they once again fell behind in the first-half.

Pedro Porro quickly found a leveller before centre-back Van de Ven ventured forward and produced an excellent finish in the 86th minute.

But with Tottenham’s goals coming from defenders on Saturday, Micah Richards was unimpressed with two of their key attacking stars.

Richards unimpressed with Son and Kulusevski’s latest Tottenham displays

Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Richards said he was ‘disappointed’ with Tottenham’s performance.

The former Manchester City man also believes Heung-min Son had a quiet afternoon while Dejan Kulusevski failed to make an impact on the game.

“I was a bit disappointed with Spurs against Burnley if I am being totally honest,” Richards said.

“The first half was really poor from Spurs point of view. It opened up a bit in the second, I thought Maddison came into the game a bit more.

“Son was a bit quieter than usual. Kulusevski switched from one wing to the other, didn’t have a real impact.”

Kulusevski form a concern for Postecoglou

While Son hasn’t been at his best in recent weeks, the Spurs skipper has still contributed with 17 goals and nine assists in the Premier League this season.

As for Kulusevski, the 24-year-old has failed to build on a bright start to the season under Postecoglou.

The Swede netted five goals and provided two assists in the first 19 games of the Postecoglou era. But he’s managed just two goal involvements since the turn of the year.

Jamie O’Hara has already called for Spurs to replace Kulusevski with Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.

While that feels like an unlikely move given the fact that Tottenham only signed Kulusevski permanently last summer, his recent form is a cause for concern for the north Londoners.
