Microsoft announced updates to Outlook designed to enhance spam filtering and improve users’ inbox organization. These changes focus on providing clearer information about emails, streamlining the spam reporting process, and offering new tools to manage unwanted messages.
First, let’s talk about the new spam detection feature in Outlook. Users will now see both sender names and email addresses in the Junk folder message list. This can help in identifying suspicious emails without the need to open them, particularly when the sender name appears familiar.
A warning will now be displayed before clicking links within emails located in the Junk folder. This can avoid phishing attacks that might be disguised as legitimate emails.
Not just this, rhe process of reporting spam emails has been wored upon. When marking a message as junk or phishing, users can now simultaneously block the sender and unsubscribe from their mailing list. This functionality is currently available on Outlook web and the new Windows version, with planned availability on mobile apps in the future.
Microsoft has also introduced some new Inbox Management features. Outlook will now suggest unsubscribing from unwanted emails. This feature is currently available on Outlook web and the new Windows version.
A new warning will be displayed in the reading pane and message list to alert users about emails from unverified or spoofed senders. This feature is currently rolling out to Outlook web and the new Windows version, with availability planned for other platforms in the near future.
