After temperatures reached near 80 degrees in several inland spots on Tuesday, readings are going to start to fall back through the weekend. The Saturday-to-Sunday forecast hinges on low pressure just south of New England. The proximity of this system and how much moisture remains with it will determine what type of weekend we have.
It’s likely that we see a lot of clouds both Saturday and Sunday with a northeasterly wind. Temperatures are going to be cooler than average for this time of year — remaining in the 60s. Some coastal locations could even stay in the 50s on Sunday.

If you’re looking to take a walk along the beach over the weekend, you can expect high tide in the morning with low tide in the afternoon. Take a jacket since it will be cool out there.
Remember, water temperatures this time of the year are still barely in the 50s, so anytime the wind comes off the water, it’s difficult for our inland temperatures to rise much above that. The stronger the wind, the more temperatures reflect what’s going on in the ocean.
These types of patterns are very difficult for the models to resolve and, therefore, makes my forecast a little more difficult. You should expect changes to the weekend forecast over the next few days and we will update accordingly. The reason for this uncertainty is that the interplay between the upcoming weather systems is not easily discernible and can render the forecast a little more difficult than usual.
Weekend outlook
Southern New England: Clouds are likely going to dominate over the weekend. There will be some shower activity but most of the days will stay dry. Temps will be warmest inland. Temperatures will stay in the upper 50s and lower 60s within a few miles of the coastline.

Northern New England: Saturday is likely going to be cloudier than Sunday. Neither day features much in the way of precipitation. Temperatures will be in the 60s.
Cape and Islands: Cool temperatures this weekend will be accompanied by lots of cloudiness and a few showers. Temperatures will struggle out of the 50s with a northeasterly flow of air.
Western Mass.: It should be mostly a dry weekend with temperatures in the 60s. Depending on how close the storm system comes over the weekend, there could be a couple of showers but it’s not likely.
