Another one is in the books for the Chicago Bears 2024 NFL Draft class as the team announced that Austin Booker has signed his rookie deal.
This is what it looked like when Booker put pen to paper at Halas Hall:
2024 CHICAGO BEARS DRAFT PICKS: Everything You Need to Know About Austin Booker
Bears draft pick Austin Booker signs rookie contract
The Bears chose Austin Booker with the 144th pick in last month’s NFL Draft. They had to trade a 2025 fourth-round selection to the Buffalo Bills in order to trade back into the 2024 draft to make that selection. However, Booker is a talented prospect whose upside makes that gamble a worthwhile one. And as far as trades go, you have to give to get. If Booker develops into a quality player, then no one will think twice about a Day 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Kudos to Patrick, who had Austin Booker pegged as a Bears fit before he was a Bear. This is what he had to say ahead of the draft about the future Bear:
Booker brings tremendous upside to the table and gives the Bears an intriguing edge rushing prospect opposite Montez Sweat. Booker needs to pack on some pounds but has the burst and speed to chase down quarterbacks and running backs on the edge. He has the moves to win inside as well. He’s a gifted pass rusher available where he is due simply to a small sample size.
The Bears could still use some pass-rush help. And while I don’t want to put too much on the rookie’s plate, I’m curious to follow his development as a rookie starting in training camp. Now that his signing is officially official, we don’t have to worry about something silly like a summertime holdout. Plus, Austin Booker signing his rookie deal leaves only two Bears draft picks left to sign — quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze.
