Bulldogs Finish First Round of NCAA Championship Under Par

CARLSBAD, Calif. – After one round of golf at the La Costa Champions Course, Mississippi State sits at 1-under par. The Bulldogs shot their sixth team round under par this season on Friday as they enter the second round tied for ninth.
 
Surapa Janthamunee carded the best score for the Bulldogs on the opening day. SJ finished the opening round 2-under par, her eighth par or better round this season and 18th of her career. She moves into 10th for most career par or better rounds in program history. In the NCAA Tournament, including the Bermuda Run Regional, she has shot par or better in three of the four rounds she has played in.
 
Julia Lopez Ramirez earned her eighth straight round under par after finishing the first day 1-under. Out of 21 rounds this season, Lopez Ramirez has finished par or better 16 times.
 
Chiara Horder finished even-par in the opening round. Horder carded four birdies throughout the day, tied with SJ for the most of any Bulldog.
 
The NCAA Championship continues Tuesday morning. The Bulldogs will once again tee off with Pepperdine and Virginia beginning at 2:22 p.m. CT. Live scoring for the NCAA Championship can be found at golfstat.com.
