Jordan Brand will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025 by resurrecting the Air Jordan 4 Laser “Rare Air” series, following milestone marker releases in 2005 and 2015 with a new “Rare Air” colorway. Like its predecessors, the shoe will feature a laser-etched pattern on its upper half, adding a hint of nostalgia to what’s shaping up to be a stacked line-up of Jordan 2025 Releases.
A mock-up by @zsneakerheadz and @sneakerfiles works off an official palette of “Black/Fire Red/Deep Royal Blue/Dark Smoke Grey/Tech Grey,” but it remains to be seen exactly how the colors will land. Official images should clear up all speculation in the near future, but eager minds can most definitely count on a dark look akin to 2005’s “Black Laser” colorway. Additionally, the shoes are expected to come with “Rare Air” branding on the tongue and “Nike Air” on the heel, two prized distinctions that serve to fuel even more hype.
As mentioned earlier, this Air Jordan 4 Laser continues a series that began way back in 2005. This came during a time when Nike/Jordan was applying this newly discovered lasering quality on premium shoes; in this case, a mosaic of Michael Jordan’s career was designed and applied onto the leather upper of the shoes using this new laser technology. Jordan Brand revisited the Jordan 4 Laser in 2015 as part of the brand’s 30th Anniversary celebration. Other shoes that featured this intricate detailing: the Air Jordan 20 and LeBron James’ Air Zoom Generation.
On a sour note, the news comes with a caveat pertaining to another Air Jordan 4 initially on the brand’s release calendar; these will replace the “Atmosphere Grey” colorway originally marked for Spring 2025.
The Air Jordan 4 Laser “Rare Air” is expected to drop in February 2025, possibly during NBA All-Star Weekend like aforementioned 2005 pair. Tap our Jordan Release Dates 2024 page for updates as the drop’s full picture begins to come into focus.
