A hint of autumn will continue today with temperatures starting the day in the 50s and ending up in the upper-60s to low-70s across southern and actually much of New England.

There’s a little bit of an upper-level system that will be spinning around to the north on Wednesday and that could produce a couple of showers over northern areas in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. There’s also a chance that a few of those make their way into Southern New England from about the Mass Pike northward, but areas south of Boston should remain rain free. Even if you do see a shower this afternoon, it will be brief.

In terms of humidity, the dew point is going to stay in the 50s for the next several days and this amount of moisture in the air is generally considered quite comfortable. This Canadian air mass allows our overnight lows to fall to good sleeping readings with temperatures around sunrise in the 50s and low-60s, so air conditioning will not be necessary for most into the weekend.
Eventually some humidity will return at some point next week, but by the time we get to this final week of August, humidity usually does not last very long.

A big area of high pressure is going to build into the region on Thursday and into much of next week. This is going to keep conditions quite dry. Along with the dry weather, we will have a warming trend. As a matter of fact, temperatures will go from barely reaching the 70s today to well into the 80s by the time we hit the weekend.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to go to the beach yet, this weekend will be a nice one to head to the shore. Also, water temperatures are warm and tides are astronomically high, making it less distance down to the water when the tide is up.
Wednesday’s breakdown
Southern New England: Look for partly sunny skies with an isolated shower popping up later in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be in the low-70s and humidity levels will be quite comfortable.
Western Mass.: Clouds and sunshine blend together for your Wednesday with temperatures in the upper-60s and low-70s with a chance for a shower, especially in the hilly terrain.
Cape and Islands: A blend of clouds and sunshine will continue for the next couple of days. Temperatures will be within a degree or two of 70.
Northern New England: An upper-level system brings the chance for a few showers in between splashes of sunshine for today. Temperatures will be in the 60s to near 70.
