Erling Haaland has missed the past few games for Manchester City due to injury and he is expected to remain out for the next few weeks too.

It isn’t known whether the Norwegian will return before the end of the season or not but his father Alfie Haaland has now spoken to VG about how things are going for the striker.

When asked whether it is good for the Manchester City striker to have a break, his father stated:

“It doesn’t have to be negative, no, but I think he would have wanted to play in the final stretch of the Premier League.”

Haaland Sr was also asked how his son is dealing with the injury and how he has reacted to the injury setback.

He responded: “He understands that it’s just something you have to accept. He’s getting older, too. A couple of years ago it would probably have been a little different. Now you just have to accept it and build on what you can do something about.”

Alfie also spoke about whether Erling has changed after having had a child recently and he insisted that the forward is still the same as he was.

“No. Not really. He’s the same, but he thinks it’s really fun to be a father. He was happy before, too, by all means. There’s something completely special about having children.”

Since Haaland was ruled out due to injury, Manchester City haven’t lost a single game and it is a good indication of how Pep Guardiola has reacted to the problems in the squad.

Omar Marmoush has stepped up well in the Norwegian’s absence and assisted in the recent 2-1 win over Aston Villa.

This can help Haaland in taking his time to get back fit. He can focus on recovery and then think about returning to action.
