Earlier this week, Spanish outlet Cope reported that Manchester United have made contact for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia after Arsenal had a bid rejected for him last summer.
The feeling was that interest in the 23-year-old is growing, with Real Madrid also monitoring his situation.
Now, an update about Garcia comes from Sport. They mention that English clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal have shown the most interest in the goalkeeper apart from the Spanish clubs.
He currently has a release clause of €25m but it can rise by €5m if he is signed by another club in the last 15 days of the summer transfer window.
The outlet believe that Arsenal are best placed to sign the Spaniard right now, with the player expected to choose them if given the power to do so. There’s obviously the chance that could change if Manchester United with the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League.
There is also some interest from Bayer Leverkusen, whose Spanish CEO Fernando Carro can help a summer transfer.
Even though it seems to be a rather open race, Arsenal are in an advantageous position and they would have to trigger Garcia’s release clause to land him.
