• Colts to honour late owner Jim Irsay in season opener

Late Indianapolis Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay will be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor, the franchise announced on Friday.

The celebration is scheduled for Sept. 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium during the Colts' season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

Irsay becomes the 20th member of the Colts' Ring of Honor, joining his late father Robert Irsay. Jim became the team's sole owner when Robert died in 1997.

Earlier this week, the organization announced the transfer of ownership from Irsay to his three daughters Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson.

Irsay died last month at the age of 65.

His tenure with the Colts was highlighted by a Super Bowl win in 2006. Under Irsay's leadership, the Colts also won 10 division titles and two AFC titles.

The Colts finished last season second in the AFC South with an 8-9 record.
