MANILA, Philippines–Sheena Toring felt a wave of relief after realizing her pro dreams with her college coach Sherwin Meneses and the Creamline Cool Smashers in the PVL.

Selected 12th overall in the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft by Meneses, her former coach at National University, Toring took a moment before facing the media, still nervous from the whirlwind of emotions.

“I was honestly super nervous. I couldn’t even sleep well the night before because I really had no idea where I would end up. I came today just expecting to show up without any big expectations,” said the middle blocker in Filipino.

That she ended up with Creamline made it all the more special. After winning three UAAP championships alongside Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon for NU, Toring now joins a decorated pro team featuring stars like Alyssa Valdez and Michele Gumabao.

“That’s why I’m really happy I got picked by Creamline. I already know Coach Sherwin’s system, so that’s a big advantage for me. I don’t need to adjust too much. I’m also really excited to train with the pros — Ate Alyssa, Ate Michele Gumabao, and the rest,” she said.

Meneses, who has won titles in both the UAAP and PVL, said Creamline is fortunate to have Toring as an addition to bolster their already stacked frontline that includes Pangs Panaga, Bea De Leon, Lorie Bernardo, and second-round pick Nica Celis.

“Now we get to continue what we started back in NU. Sheena brings a lot to the team, especially her leadership and her high-level experience in the game,” he said.

From having a successful UAAP career from high school to college, Toring is hopeful to build a new winning tradition with the 10-time PVL champions.

“Creamline is a championship team, so of course, there are big expectations. I’ll just focus on improving myself and try to contribute by filling whatever the team might be lacking,” she said.
