A Tesco car park in the Jewellery Quarter had it's own Suez Canal moment last night after a van became awkwardly stuck on it's side.

The vehicle became wedged between the concrete floor and car park roof at around 6pm, leaving two wheels off the ground.

One bemused onlooker tweeted a picture of the debacle, adding: "@thisisheart just heard you guys talking about people getting stuck - I’ve literally just been to Tesco and saw this happen to someone in the car park."

Fire crews were soon called to the store in Camden Street and were able to right the van with the help of a technical rescue team.

West Midlands Fire Service said cleaning chemicals had to be removed from the van before it was returned to a 'stable' position.

A fire service spokesperson told Birmingham Live: "We were called to a van in an unstable position between the concrete floor and car park roof.

"Two crews and a technical rescue team attended shortly after 6pm.

"The van contained cleaning chemicals which were removed from the vehicle.

"It was then re-positioned on all four wheels and is now in a stable condition."
