A road has been sealed off following a shooting in Smethwick, which left two seriously injured.

Armed police were called to Poplar Road in Bearwood following the incident on Wednesday, March 31.

Two men - aged 19 and 20 - were treated by medics at the scene before being taken to hospital.

West Midlands Ambulance Service described their injuries as serious and said a doctor travelled with both patients to continue treatment en route.

Police blocked the road off just before 10pm and at least seven police patrol cars with flashing lights were filmed at the scene - as can be seen in the video above.

A witness told BlackCountryLive they saw two ambulances leave the scene, adding: "One of the ambulances was with a police escort - an unmarked and a marked police car."

West Midlands Police said a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remains in police custody.
