LEIGH is set to be hit by downpours for the majority of this week, the Met Office have predicted.

It is forecast that each day this week will see some rain, in what is likely to be a particularly miserable seven days.

While it is predicted to rain every day, the start of the week will be most affected by heavy downpours for longer durations throughout the day.

Today, Monday, has already seen heavy rainfall which is set to continue until around 2pm, when it will start to clear up - albeit with some chance of rain.

With the days beginning to get shorter, sunset will be at 6:08pm, and the day will reach a high of 16 degrees and a low of 14°C.

Tuesday has a similar forecast, with heavy rainfall predicted almost all day.

The temperature will reach highs of 17°C and a low of 13°C.

While it is predicted to rain heavily again on Wednesday morning, it is said to brighten up later in the afternoon.

Nevertheless, there is still around 40% of rain until later in the evening. The temperature will drop as low as 9°C, with a high of 13°C.

On Thursday, there is a good chance it will rain in the afternoon between 1-4pm and clear up later in the evening.

Getting colder as the week progresses, the day will reach a low of 7°C and a high of 10°C.

As residents get ready for the weekend, it is thankfully forecast to remain cloudy and without rain on Friday, with lows of 8°C and highs of 11°C.

There is a small chance of rain throughout the day on Saturday, yet this likelihood increases as the evening progresses.

Temperatures will reach a high of 12°C and a low of 8°C.

At the end of the week, Sunday will reach a high of 14°C in the afternoon and a low of 11°C i the morning and evening.

Forecast to be overcast and cloudy, there is a small chance of rain throughout the day.
