A FAMILY fireplace business that started in 1982 celebrated their 40th anniversary last month.

ELB Fireplaces have been serving the people of Leigh for all their fireplace and stove furnishing needs for the past forty years.

The team provides homeowners with fireplaces for gas and electric fires, multifuel and log burning stoves, and "expert" opinion on home refurbishments and interior design.

Starting out in a small garage in Leigh, the Twist Lane business has grown to reach people all over the North West; describing themselves as the "leading supplier of fireplaces" in the area.

Director of ELB, Leon Bellis, said that the business has had to continually adapt to provide contemporary products and stand the test of time.

In recent years, this has included a balancing act of managing the business through the pandemic and meeting an increase in demand for home refurbishments and log burners.

The global energy crisis is another complication that the business has had to adapt to and offer alternative products that do not contribute too much towards rising bills.

Leon said: "After starting out in my Dad's garage in 1982, we have really gone from strength to strength.

"We have adapted to recessions and the pandemic, and we are constantly changing and doing things up to take ourselves to the next level."

"My dad Eric started the business, and now, my mum, my wife, and I work in the business.

"It was our 40th anniversary in February - and not many businesses can say that."
