Czech President Milos Zeman named nine new generals at Prague Castle, the presidential seat, on the occasion of the national holiday, marking Czechoslovakia's birth in 1918, today. Zeman previously rejected the government proposal for promoting Olomouc regional police chief Tomas Landsfeld to general over his punishment for drunk driving in 2014, Presidential Office head Vartislav Mynar said previously. Today, Zeman promoted eight colonels of the military, police, fire corps and the Prison Service to the rank of general, along with World War II veteran Miloslav Masopust who turned 98 recently.
