Kirknewton ace Leon Stewart ended the season in style as he was crowned ORCi Stock Rod National Champion at the Cowdenbeath Racewall, writes Jim Turner.

He started the evening off in decent fashion with two fifth place finishes but worked his way into the top positions at the start of the final. He took full advantage of a mistake from the race leader to charge into the lead and quickly pull away from the rest of the chasing pack.

His progress was disrupted twice by race stoppages but he refused to let that get the better of him as he eased away once more following the final restart to become national champion.

Bathgate’s David Philp Jr - the current world champion - came home in second place.

In other results on a busy night of racing, Armadale’s Jordan Cassie was in Saloon action. He finished runner-up in one of the heats before claiming 10th spot in the Gordon Barclay Memorial Trophy final.

It was a similar story for Livingston’s Robbie Armit who had to settle for the runner-up spot in the ORCi Ministox Sharpies Shield.
