An 8-pound, 9-ounce baby girl was born this week on the side of a southwestern Oklahoma highway.
Lawton-area television station KSWO reports that a couple was on their way to a hospital Tuesday night when they realized they didn't have enough time. So, they pulled over on the side of Highway 62 in Comanche County.
Apache EMTs were called in and sprang to action.
"Sort of what went through my head is it's a bit stressful, you know, and a bit exciting," Luis Jaquez said. "Off the side of the highway is one of those things. I've done it before, but you never get used to it."
The baby was delivered just before the EMTs arrived. They cut the cord and helped keep the mom and baby safe.
