New signing Tete led Leicester City’s charge as they secured their first Premier League win since the World Cup in a barnstorming game at Aston Villa.

City twice came from behind in a wild first half that ended with the Brazilian putting his new side ahead, with victory sealed by Dennis Praet in the second half. It relieves pressure on City, whose run of form had seen them dragged towards the relegation zone.

They needed to show resilience to bounce back from goals by Ollie Watkins and one into his own net by debutant Harry Souttar, with James Maddison responding to the first and Kelechi Iheanacho for the second. Eventually, City found their feet defensively while still providing a threat on the attack, and that earned them a much-needed win.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery admits Leicester City taught his side an important lesson

Aston Villa have to learn and improve from being pressed so efficiently by Leicester City, Unai Emery has said.

Leicester beat Villa 4-2 in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon, with goals from James Maddison, Kelechi Iheanacho, Tete and Dennis Praet ensuring City took all three points back down the M6 and M69.

Speaking after the match, Emery said Leicester's pressing must teach his team to improve tactically and eradicate mistakes if they are to continue making progress at Villa Park.

Supporters were raucous even before kick-off, despite the club’s poor run of form in the Premier League, such excitement was felt in the squad too, Rodgers said.

Leicester City handed unexpected boost after 'not right' Man United decision

Manchester United will be without key midfielder Casemiro when Leicester City visit Old Trafford on February 19.

The Brazilian midfielder received a straight red card today (Saturday) against Crystal Palace when a VAR review spotted him placing his hands around the neck of opposition midfielder Will Hughes.

It means Casemiro will miss United's back-to-back league games against Leeds this week, as well as the visit of Leicester later this month. The midfielder has been one of Erik ten Hag's standout performers this season - and his absence will be a big miss for the Red Devils.
