Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner has said the closure of a Post Office in a Cambridge suburb is "extremely worrying", especially for vulnerable locals. Chesterton Post Office on High Street closed on January 18, 2023 due to issues with an "increase in costs".
This leaves the nearest Post Office a 15-minute walk away at Arbury Court. Mr Zeichner has voiced his concerns about the closure believing it could have a negative impact on the local community.
The Cambridge MP has said he is in communication with senior management at the Post Office to see if the branch could re-open. He said: “I am extremely worried that many people, especially those who are infirm, elderly, or vulnerable, may miss out on the important services that a local Post Office can provide.

"This move has come as a blow and I will be pursuing the matter directly with senior management at the Post Office to see if a solution can be found, which would allow this vital community resource to reopen as soon as possible.”
