A CONTESTANT on Next Level Chef has been branded "nasty and smug" by viewers after turning on a former teammate.

Wednesday night's episode of Gordon Ramsay's new cookery show saw the three teams broken down as the chefs battled it out as individuals for the first time.

Gordon, 56, revealed that the chefs would be split up as they battled it out across the kitchens to stay in the competition.

It led to some chefs getting competitive, and refusing to talk to or help one another in the challenge.

Fans fumed as they watched on while Toby Caswell-Jones ignored his former teammate Ian 'Gold' Goulding.

Ian appeared panicked as he looked around the kitchen for a hand-held blender to mix up part of his dish.

"Has anyone got one of those blenders?" he asked the other chefs, but was met with complete silence from Toby.

As the camera panned round, it was revealed that Toby had used the blender, and was keeping it at his cooking station.

Toby then told the cameras: "It's a solo competition, so I've got to look after myself, I've got that blender. It's time to play dirty, isn't it?"

"Why would I give it to you?" he then replied to Gold. "I've used it and it needs a wash."

"Can I use it?" Gold continued, to which Toby sassily hit back: "Yes, if you want to wash it."

"To suddenly realise there was no way to make a puree because Toby had taken it cheesed me off," Gold said.

And fans at home agreed, furiously taking to Twitter to suggest that Toby should be "sent home".

"Not Toby being an A grade D-bag because he’s in competitive mode," one said. "I hope he goes home."

Another chimed in: "Toby you are looking like a bit of a d**k! Now I'm missing a public vote option!"

"This Toby is so arrogant hope he is out soon!" a third said, while a fourth added: "Loving the competition vibes but no need for nasty smugness."

A fifth simple said: "Get him gone," while a sixth concluded: "If you have to be nasty, your cooking isn't good enough."

It comes after Next Level Chef viewers blasted last week's elimination as 'criminally unjust'.
