Callum O'Dowda has been ruled out of tonight’s Euro 2024 qualifier with France at the Aviva Stadium, while Troy Parrott has failed to make the matchday 23-man squad.

The 27-year-old Cardiff midfielder, who lined up at left wing-back and scored in last week's 3-2 friendly victory over Latvia, has been nursing a groin injury in recent days and has not been included in the matchday squad of 23 submitted to UEFA last night.

O'Dowda’s place could be taken by James McClean, who is in line to win his 98th cap, although Atletico Madrid’s right-sided defender Matt Doherty has also deputised on the left for his country in the recent past.

Parrott featured as a substitute in the 3-2 win over Latvia, but will sit out this game after Norwich City striker Adam Idah was passed fit for inclusion, having struggled recently with a foot problem.

Seamus Coleman is included despite injury doubts, while late call-up Robbie Brady and Will Keane are the other players who missed out on a place in the 23.

Republic of Ireland matchday squad:

Goalkeepers: Gavin Bazunu, Caoimhin Kelleher, Mark Travers

Defenders: Seamus Coleman, Andrew Omobamidele, Dara O'Shea, John Egan, Matt Doherty, Nathan Collins

Midfielders: Josh Cullen, Alan Browne, James McClean, Jeff Hendrick, Jayson Molumby, Mark Sykes, Jason Knight, Will Smallbone.

Forwards: Michael Obafemi, Adam Idah, Jamie McGrath, Evan Ferguson, Chiedozie Ogbene, Mikey Johnston
