Ding Junhui overcame top seed Mark Allen 10-5 at Hull's Bonus Arena on Monday evening to advance to the semi-finals of the Tour Championship.

The 35-year-old Chinese recovered from losing the first two frames in the opening session, rattling off six consecutive frames to move into an 8-3 lead.

Allen managed to pull it back to 9-5 but Ding got over the line to gain a measure of revenge, having lost to the Antrim man in the UK Championship final in November.

Ding will play the winner of Ali Carter and Kyren Wilson, who face each other on Tuesday, in the last four on Friday.

In the other quarter-finals, Shaun Murphy takes on Robert Milkins on Wednesday and Mark Selby meets Ryan Day on Thursday.

The Tour Championship is contested by the top eight players on the season earnings list meaning no place for last year's winner Neil Robertson or world number one Ronnie O'Sullivan.
