Erik ten Hag has confirmed Christian Eriksen is back on the pitch and undergoing individual training at Carrington as he continues to recover from injury.

Eriksen has been out of action since sustaining an ankle injury in the FA Cup win over Reading in January. The Dane was handed an initial prognosis of around three months, with his return looking on schedule for later this month.

Towards the end of March, the midfielder posted a an update on his progression with a picture of his foot in a protective boot and then a football boot, hinting that he was back in training. And now Ten Hag has confirmed he is undergoing a specific programme and that he hopes to have his midfielder back in group training shortly.

"Christian Eriksen is back on the pitch, not yet in the team training but I expect him in the coming week, [or] weeks, back in team training so will be available for games again," the Dutchman told MUTV.

"So we know how big an impact Christian Eriksen had on our game, but also others, like Anthony Martial, are also returning in team training and [there were] no injuries, luckily, from the internationals.

"That's always a concern as a manager when the players leave you, how you get them back and, especially, in this stage of the season when it comes to the end, to the final stage."

United have nine games in April and Eriksen's return at some point will prove crucial for midfield rotation, and speaking during the international break, the 31-year-old provided an update from his side.

"Yeah, it is going well," he said. "I have just started being outside as you saw [on Instagram] with football boots on. And then we take it from there, that is the next step. I have been in the gym for some weeks now and now it is time to do the next rehab session outside."
