Three pals will take on a half-marathon - with a brutal forfeit for the slowest. Steve Wright will take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon tomorrow (Sunday, April 2) alongside friends Stewart Henson, 39, and Oli Collins, 30.

Named the 'Bald Bros', they're all follicly challenged. Whoever finishes the race in the slowest time will face the clippers - shaving what remains of their thinning hair.

To rub salt in the wound, the friend who raises the most cash for charity will be the one doing the shearing.

Steve and Oli work for charity Versus Arthritis. Stewart also previously worked there.

Content manager Steve, 29, said: "Arthritis doesn't get the attention it deserves. It's a quiet condition that affects all ages not just the elderly.

"However, many of these people don't go to GPs and struggle through the effects of the condition, while the people who do often experience attitudes to 'get on with it'. When so many people in the UK are affected by arthritis, they shouldn't be unheard of in their pain."

Up until a year ago, Steve weighed nearly 20 stone. He has lost six stone, with the charity inspiring him to make a change.

"During Covid-19 and lockdown my mental health crashed, but by exercising and talking to people it lifted me," he said.

"Running this half marathon back then would have been out of the question, but now after working for Versus Arthritis and hearing people's incredible stories of what they live through on a day-to-day basis, it's helped me and so I want to help them."

Former lead designer at Versus Arthritis Stewart added: "This half marathon fills with me both excitement and a little fear, knowing that I need to cover more than a few yards this time.

"However, running alongside my fellow bald bros and with support and sponsorship - this will all be well and truly worth it."
