Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic says it is his 'dream' to play for Manchester City and that he has had transfer interest from within the Premier League's 'big five' teams.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina centre-back joined Championship promotion-winners United last summer before becoming one of the club's standout performers last season. Ahmedhodzic made 40 appearances across all competitions, hitting seven goals as United secured a top-two finish.

It would certainly be easy to see why other clubs may be casting envious glances towards Bramall Lane ahead of the summer transfer window following such an impressive year. And the defender has now explained exactly why he grew up supporting City - and why he hopes to one day earn a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking to Bosnian news outlet N1, Ahmedhodzic said: "When I was younger, right before [Edin] Dzeko came to Manchester City, I would say Barcelona. But now, after I started following [Manchester] City," before adding: "When I was in school, when we had to take those professional photos. Everyone was wearing some nice clothes and I was wearing Manchester City jersey with Dzeko's name. Everyone had a school memory in their nice clothes, and mine was in Edin Dzeko's jersey. Some were laughing, and some said that's how it had to be."

Despite revealing his desire to line up for City, the defender isn't planning on leaving his current club in the coming transfer window.

Ahmedhodzic added: "There is a lot of interest. I can't reveal anything, but they are clubs from the big five. It would be foolish to leave Sheffield United. I fought all season to bring the club into the Premier League. It wouldn't be wise to leave now. Everything can change."
