Former Honorary Treasurer of the FAI Joe Delaney has died aged 82.
Joe Delaney, father of former FAI CEO John Delaney, served as chairman of Waterford United between 1976 and 1982. He was also the honorary president of the Munster Football Association.
Delaney was FAI treasurer but left the position in 1996 after a ticketing controversy around the 1990 and 1994 World Cups.
Delaney always strenuously denied any wrongdoing.
On Thursday the FAI posted a message of sympathy on social media which read: "The Board of the Football Association of Ireland offers our condolences on the death of former Honourary Officer Joe Delaney."
