SportTyrone need extra-time in Cavan | Tyrone 1-23 Cavan 3-16
Cavan's 41-year winless streak against Tyrone continues but they couldn’t have come much closer today, recovering from eight points down to force extra-time in an Ulster classic before a crowd of 9,952 at Kingspan Breffni. Brian Dooher’s side looked to be cruising when they opened a 1-16 to 1-08 lead 16 minutes into the second half but the hosts threw everything at them, rattling in two goals, as they forced extra time.
SportDavy's Déise pop Cork | Waterford 2-25 Cork 1-25 | Munster SHC Highlights
As Davy Fitzgerald crouched in celebration on the sideline and the public address roared 'up the Déise', there was no doubting that Waterford are a live force in Championship 2024. The points weren’t secure until the end but the hosts were never led from Jamie Barron’s second-minute goal. They still needed Stephen Bennett’s 58th-minute penalty, which saw Ciarán Joyce black-carded, and Cork were down to 13 for a spell when Damien Cahalane was sent off for a second yellow. Alan Connolly’s late goal brought the Rebels back into contention but down three and with little more than 30 seconds left, their sideline signalled for the Blackrock man to point a late free. They wouldn’t get a chance for a goal as Patrick Curran slotted the clincher.
SportSligo hearts broken by late Galway goal | Galway 1-13 Sligo 0-14 | Connacht SFC HIghlights
Robert Finnerty broke Sligo hearts as the full-forward's palmed goal in second-half stoppage time sent holders Galway through to the Connacht decider. The game’s only goal, which left two points between the sides, 1-13 to 0-14, was created by Damien Comer, Galway’s super sub who was needed to pull this game from the fire as Sligo, excellent for most of this well-contested semi-final, looked good value for a big win.
SportClare make it back-to-back finals | Clare 2-20 Waterford 1-09 | Munster SFC Highlights
Clare made it back-to-back Munster finals for the first time since 1937 with a routine 14-point win over Waterford. The victory, secured with goals from Emmet McMahon and Mark McInerney, also seals their place in the top 16 for the All-Ireland series. The Déise will now play in the Tailteann Cup.
SportMayo beat Roscommon in Hyde once more | Mayo 1-15 Roscommon 0-13 | Connacht SFC Highlights
Mayo eased their way into the Connacht final against Galway after coming good in the second half to see off Roscommon in front of 13,967 spectators in the Hyde Park sunshine. Kevin McStay's men showed their quality after the break, with Ryan O’Donoghue and Aidan O’Shea leading their charge for the finishing line. For Roscommon, the wait for a first championship victory against Mayo since 2001 continues as their challenge wilted after the break.
SportWexford draw AGAIN as Dublin strike late | Wexford 1-21 Dublin 2-18 | Leinster SHC Highlights
Dublin stung Wexford with a brace of injury-time goals to snatch a sensational draw in Sunday's Leinster SHC opener at sun-kissed Wexford Park. Wexford seemed nailed-on for a potentially pivotal victory after Lee Chin brought his outstanding personal haul to 1-12 two minutes into added-time to open-up a 1-20 to 0-18 advantage. But Dublin were given a lifeline when sub Paul Crummey fed Danny Sutcliffe to shave the gap to 1-20 to 1-18 three minutes into injury-time. And although Cathal Dunbar responded to open-up a three point divide, the Sky Blues were embracing a famous escape to the draw when the resultant puck-out was broken down for Cian O’Sullivan to net the leveller.
SportJimmy wins match as Derry press backfires | Donegal 4-11 Derry 0-17 | Ulster SFC Highlights
Derry's two-year reign as Ulster Senior Football champions was ended by a Jim McGuinness' ambush as Donegal hit four goals in front of 14, 714 at Celtic Park on Saturday evening. The Tir Chonaill men fully deserved the victory, fighting back from a slow start to take control thanks to Daoire O'Baoill's first-half goal. The strike breathed life in Donegal's challenge with their ability to win breaks on a superb long kick-out routine, designed to expose Derry's high press. It brought countless goal opportunities with three of the four goals arriving off long kick-outs. For Derry, this was a day to forget. The alarm bells won't exactly be ringing after what was only Derry's second defeat of 2024 but there will be plenty of soul searching ahead of the All Ireland Series.
SportClare hearts broken by Treaty late surge | Limerick 3-15 Clare 1-18 | Munster SHC Highlights
A first Munster SHC victory in Ennis since 1990 was Limerick's reward for a remarkable final quarter backlash as the holders stunned Clare into submission in front a capacity 20,055 crowd in Ennis. Nothing but a handsome home victory appeared likely when the Banner stretched their five-point half-time advantage to nine by the 52nd minute when resuming with five of the first six points including a brace of Mark Rodgers. However, there would be an unprecedented sea-change as three goals in the space of seven minutes through Diarmaid Byrnes, Donnacha Ó Dalaigh and Aaron Gillane completed an emphatic twelve-point turnaround.
