A Center Parcs staff member died in a collision with a vehicle at the company’s Woburn Forest resort.

Paramedics were called to the site in Bedfordshire shortly after noon last Friday in response to reports that a woman was unconscious. She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge by air ambulance for treatment but died later that day. Center Parcs said it was working with the investigating authorities.

It follows the death of a woman in her thirties after an unexplained medical incident at Center Parcs Elveden Forest in Suffolk in June.

The first Center Parcs resort was founded near the village of Reuver in the Netherlands in 1968 and it had opened resorts in Belgium and France before it arrived in the UK in 1987. Center Parcs UK was bought by the private equity group Blackstone in 2006. After the acquisition, the group started construction on Woburn Forest, which opened in 2014 and is still the newest of the company’s resorts in the UK.

The business has been owned by Brookfield Property Partners since 2015.

Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler, from the serious collision investigation unit for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, said: “We are investigating a reported collision between a vehicle and a member of staff at Center Parcs Woburn Forest on Friday.

“The member of staff was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died later that day. Our thoughts remain with her family. Anyone with any information about the collision is asked to contact us via the Bedfordshire police website or call 101, quoting Operation Latymer.”

A spokesman for Center Parcs said: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of our team at Woburn Forest. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and her colleagues at this time.

“We are in contact with her family, and we are offering support to them and any of our colleagues at Woburn Forest who have been affected. Center Parcs is working closely with all the relevant authorities following this incident.”
