An alcoholic woman arguing with a man in an alley leapt on his back and threatened him. When the police arrived Samantha Pole kicked one of them and racially abused another.

Pole, 35, had been drinking with the man on Friday, March 10, when they got into an argument about money he owed her. As he tried to walk away, Pole jumped onto his back and he was seen on CCTV clinging onto the walls to avoid falling over.

Leicestershire Police arrived in the area of Sileby and then took Pole into custody. As she was taken towards a police car she kicked at the vehicle and twice kicked a police officer in the leg. A police van was called and in the back of the van she racially abused another police officer.

At Leicester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday she pleaded guilty to assault by beating, assaulting an emergency worker, racially aggravated behaviour to the policeman and threatening behaviour to the man she attacked. Pole, of Forest Drive, Sileby, was represented in court by Karly Mee.

She told the magistrates: "She is extremely ashamed of her behaviour on this occasion. She was intoxicated and it was an argument over money he owed her.

"Unfortunately she is drink-dependent and diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She's not racist - she just had too much to drink and lost her temper - it's out of character."

Pole, who is on benefits, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge. She was also given a 12-month community order with 25 days of working with probation.
