Wrexham AFC gained a hard-earned point at Field Mill after a first half bombardment from the hosts. Mansfield looked very impressive during the game and although they improved massively in the second half they can possibly feel a little fortunate to have come away with a draw.

Mansfield were by far the better side in the opening exchanges and the Stags forced a flurry of corners early on as well as stretching the Reds defence. The hosts had a huge chance in the 25th minute when a cross was swung in to Davis Keillor-Dunn but the former Wrexham man could only head straight into the grateful palms of Arthur Okonkwo.

Keillor-Dunn nearly scored again a few moments later but this time his shot rebounded off the post. Mansfield were destroying Wrexham at this point and most fans in the ground couldn't quite believe that it was still 0-0.

The Dragons did manage to get to the interval with their clean sheet intact, more by luck than judgement. They did improve immensely in the second period however, as makeshift right wing back Jacob Mendy pressed further forward.

The Reds continued to look a lot more comfortable in possession after the interval. Ollie Palmer was particularly impressive with his hold up play.

Aaron Hayden had a golden chance in the 72nd minute as he leapt highest from a McClean corner but he headed straight at Pym in the Mansfield goal. The game was heading for a goalless draw at this point, with both sides seemingly resigned to drawing a blank in front of goal despite chances at both ends.

Mansfield fans did jump to their feet in the final minute of normal time as Keillor Dunn again let fly but his shot shaved the far post. That's how it stayed as both sides were forced to settle for a point after an entertaining game.
