A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire broke out at a prestigious West London school.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters raced to The London Oratory in West Brompton at around 10am this morning after a blaze engulfed its atrium.

The four store building at the school - where Tony Blair and Nick Clegg sent their kids - was partly damaged by fire.

No injuries are reported and the blaze was under control by midday.

The London Fire Brigade said they are investigating the cause of the inferno on Seagrave Road.

Chelsea and Fulham MP Greg Hands said he was "concerned" by the incident, and was in touch with the police.

The London Oratory takes kids from seven to 18 and has around 1,350 pupils who are still on their Christmas holidays.

Euan Blair, 39, a multi-millionaire businessman and son of ex-PM Tony, was deputy head boy at the Catholic comprehensive.

Antonio Clegg, the eldest son of ex-Deputy PM Nick and his wife Miriam, started at the school in 2013.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "The Brigade was called at 1011 and the fire was under control by 1147.

"The cause of the fire is under joint investigation by the Brigade and the Met police."

A Met Police spokesperson said: "At around 11:15am a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of arson and taken into custody.

"A nearby shopping centre and some residential addresses have been evacuated as a precaution."
