A piano at London’s St Pancras station is at the centre of a free speech row after a group of people from Chinese television tried to stop a YouTuber from including them in his livestream as he played the instrument.

The station concourse piano, which is free for the public to use, was given by Sir Elton John in 2016 and has been played by musicians including Alicia Keys, John Legend and Tom Odell.

On January 19 Brendan Kavanagh, also known as Dr K, shared a livestream of himself playing the piano. In the footage members of the group tell Kavanagh that they are from Chinese TV and “this is non-disclosable”. A man says that Kavanagh is not permitted to film them because they “cannot
