Dyson fans are swapping their straighteners for a new gadget from Boots that promises to dry and straighten wet hair 'in 20 minutes'. Dyson, a brand famous for revolutionising the haircare industry with its Supersonic Hair Dryer in 2016 and the popular Airwrap two years later, has done it again with its latest product, the Dyson Airstrait, which officially launched at Boots on February 21.

The next-generation hair straightener, which was released in the US last year and on the Dyson website in the UK earlier this month, is said to transform wet hair into salon-quality smooth and straight locks without the potential damage caused by traditional hairdryers and straighteners. The straightener costs £449.99, so it's not cheap, but those who have already bought the gadget say 'it's worth every penny'.

Instead of traditional hot plates, the straightener uses Dyson's airflow technology to dry and straighten hair at the same time, making your hair routine quicker and simpler. Designed for various hair types, the straightener has both wet and dry styling modes, as well as a cool setting to set your style.

The new Dyson Airstrait has different settings for wet and dry hair to make it look great. You can pick from three temperatures, 80C, 110C, and 140C, to dry your hair and style it. If your hair is already dry, you can use 120C or 140C. There's also a boost mode for extra style power. Plus, you can change the airflow and use a cold shot or root drying.

Even though it's only been out for about two weeks in the UK, the Dyson Airstrait has got really good reviews at Boots, with a 4.4 out of 5 star rating from over 170 people. Customers are calling it a 'game changer' and say it's 'worth every penny'. They love how quick it is to dry their hair, with some saying it takes just 20 minutes.

A happy customer at Boots said: "I absolutely love the Dyson Airstrait! I have naturally frizzy hair so I was sceptical about how it would work on my hair but I have been so impressed! My hair feels so smooth and shiny as if I've just been to the hairdressers and the results last all day. Saves so much time in the morning before work. Worth the investment."

A second person wrote: "I got my first ever Dyson hair product (the Airwrap) three years ago and have always been so impressed with it, the Airstrait is no different - this product is amazing! Took a few strands of hair for me to get used to how to use it but I've been blown away with the result! Took me around 15 minutes to dry and straighten my whole head and its left me with such sleek glossy straight hair I am in love! There aren't any hot plates either, so I can just tell its not damaging my hair."

"You can use it to straighten already dry hair too and that function works better than any straightener I've ever used. Honestly such a game changer of a product for me! Would recommend to anyone! Dyson products are always worth the investment their customer service has always been so helpful with my current products."

A third person commented: "This is insane. I have thick long hair and this dried it, within 20 minutes, into pin straight soft locks that I've only ever gotten when going to the hairdressers. Honestly it's an amazing tool. Would highly recommend."

One happy shopper enthused about the hairstyling tool: "I love this tool for my course, thick hair," they expressed. "Best tool I have ever tried! I highly recommend watching the style videos for tips especially drying the roots first. I enjoy the fast drying and styling combo with heat followed by a cold finish to lock in the cuticles. No static during these winter months. Only improvement suggestion is to make future models lighter in weight. I do not travel with it because of the heavy weight."

Nevertheless, someone else wasn't as pleased, giving it a only three stars. They said, "This is the first Dyson product I have used and overall I was disappointed. It is lovely looking and the idea is interesting, as someone with curly hair I loved the idea of a two-in-one product, however the reality of it was disappointing My hair was left looking smooth and feeling silky but I found it heavy and uncomfortable to use for the duration of doing all of my hair, Overall, this product may be right for someone but it isn't me."

Yet another customer offered praise for the Dyson Airstrait, giving an impressive five out of five stars. They shared, "I was hesitant to spend this amount but the Airstrait is worth every penny! I have long, very thick and curly/frizzy hair and it has taken me up to two hours to wash dry and straighten it. Now it takes me 30 minutes to finish my hair! It could be a little lighter but I wish I had this product 40 years ago! It's incredible."

Another pleased customer said: "I bought this even though it felt very pricey, and it's been absolutely worth it. I do not know how to blowdry my hair and I like straight, sleek hair. I have wavy/curly hair underneath, with some frizz on the top and I like to take about five minutes to get ready for the day, this has been a saviour. I like using it better with dry hair as opposed to wet because it takes a longer time than I like, but I love it love it love it."

Other leading hair straightener brands include Cloud Nine and GHD. You can find the Cloud Nine The Touch Iron Hair Straightener Gift Set on sale at Argos for £139, reduced from £150, or for £189 at Boots. The original GHD hair straightener is available at LookFantastic for £139.
