We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about lotsa shows including Fire Country, Tracker, Chicago Fire and Elsbeth!
1 | Did last week’s S.W.A.T. show us that the only thing dumber than a cop yelling at a perp from across the street is yelling at a perp from a fire escape two stories up?
2 | Considering how soaptastic the storyline is, isn’t Fire Country’s paternity twist oddly lacking oomph? And isn’t it random to see Bodie suddenly pining to be a proper father to a girl he barely knows?
3 | Maybe we’re missing something, and while we do love us some Idris Elba, why was he — most recently the star of Apple TV+’s Hijack — the de facto host of Netflix’s SAG Awards telecast? Also, is it safe to say Anne Hathaway was wearing cerulean blue on purpose for the Devil Wears Prada reunion?
4 | Is Tracker going to have Reenie clumsily explain why she’s in Colter’s vicinity every time he needs her help on a case?
5 | The Way Home fans, as sacrilegious as it may be to Kat/Elliot ‘shippers, are you kind of intrigued by the idea that something might happen between Kat and Thomas Coyle?
6 | In The Woman in the Wall’s finale, how did James Coyle not notice Colman stealing his cell phone out of his pocket? That thing’s got some weight!
7 | We get that Yasmine Al-Bustami doesn’t appear in every NCIS: Hawai’i episode, but for a case where the team was sorely lacking a member of the “younger generation,” shouldn’t there been a line addressing Lucy’s absence? And if there ever was a time to see Jesse go home to and warmly embrace his (never seen) wife and (barely seen) kids, wasn’t this it?
8 | At a glance, doesn’t this promo photo of The Voice’s Season 25 coaches make you think their show is about FBI profilers or vampire slayers or, dunno, anything other than a zany sing-off?
9 | Watching Deal or No Deal Island, could you really do without the story behind why they pick each case number? (“My second cousin’s hair dresser’s half-birthday!”) Like, what is this, a recipe site? Also, how does one (that’s you, Aron!) not vote out Boston Rob first chance you get, knowing he’s out and equipped to game everyone?
10 | Now that The Challenge: All Stars 4 cast has finally been announced, which former Real World or Road Rules veteran are you most excited to see? And with Rachel Robinson and Cara Maria Sorbello back in action, do any of the other women even stand a chance?
11 | As The Bold and the Beautiful was busy declaring Sheila dead, did the authorities or even supposed killer Steffy think to see whether the psycho was missing a toe? (’Cause the real Sheila cut one off in 2022 to pretend she’d been eaten by a bear.)
12 | Did it take you a minute to realize that Shōgun is Hunt for Red October-ing us, and Blackthorne’s Portuguese is being spoken as English? And why would the Japanese attendants trim Blackthorne’s hair and beard into a very modern style that none of them actually wear?
13 | On Will Trent, if Crystal was sending Angie a text message from a new number, how did her name automatically appear on Angie’s phone? And in what world would Ormewood’s son be able to bring a makeshift rifle to school for the science fair?
14 | Watching The Rookie’s 100th episode, did you spot the “100” that briefly illuminated in the opening logo? ▼ As much as we love Bridget Regan, with alllll the lowlifes in L.A., is it a stretch that Monica seems to represent most of them? Lastly, as several readers noted, why was Henry getting home for the wedding such a big deal if they never gave them a father/son scene?!
15 | We “get” the need for draaaama on FBI, but what… were… the odds… that OA’s very new girlfriend factored into the team’s latest case??
16 | Are we really supposed to believe that this is the size of a three-week-old baby on The Good Doctor?
17 | Could Chicago Med‘s stunt double for Ripley have been any more obvious with that floppy hair?
18 | We’re sure real-life scheduling is to blame, but wasn’t it odd that Chicago Fire’s Cruz and his sons were at Brett and Casey’s wedding, but his wife was not?
19 | Why did The Conners‘ Becky go through the trouble of asking everyone if they wanted to teach music at Beverly Rose’s school when she knew full well that Louise was the only professional musician in the room? Would Louise have to apologize to the school board for introducing the kids to ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” if they never had a chance to perform it?
20 | Did you enjoy the Survivor premiere’s XXL runtime or did it feel like it contained way too much filler? And now that Jelinsky has said that quitting the Sweat challenge was actually Q’s idea, does that earn him any sympathy points?
21 | On the extremely off chance you don’t follow TVLine’s reporting, how long did it take you to realize that Resident Alien’s Blue Avian was The Righteous Gemstones’ Edi Patterson?
22 | Gen Xers, did the news about Miss Scarlet & the Duke losing a titular star and thus changing its title give you Valerie’s Family flashbacks? Or, less deep of a cut, The Conners flashbacks?
23 | Were you disappointed that Phaedra seemed to lose her fight in this week’s episode of The Traitors? And with next week’s season finale rapidly approaching, do you think Kate has any shot at stealing that prize pot?
24 | Anyone else ever half-expect So Help Me Todd‘s Susan to remove her eyeglasses and reveal herself to be Not Another Teen Movie‘s Chyler Leigh?
25 | On Elsbeth, wouldn’t autocorrect have caught the semi-incriminating “forfieting” typo in the victim’s “suicide” text? And did you do a double-take when Carrie Preston said in the end-of-episode promo that the next new episode isn’t until April 4??!
26 | On Law & Order: SVU, how refreshing was it to see three female officers — Benson, Curry and Sykes — get not one but two scenes, with substantial dialogue, all to themselves?
27 | Shouldn’t the medical examiner on Law & Order: Organized Crime have recognized Rita’s wounds as stigmata way before Stabler mentioned it? (Or have we just watched far too many TV shows about messed-up ritualistic killers?)

13. Right. In this day and age, is a school going allow that kind of science project. It was a nice moment for bonding between father and son, but weird project to come up with… Was surprised when that was shown to be what they were working on.
25. Makes no sense to debut a new show, and then go on hiatus. I know CBS has State of Union and then March Madness for the rest of March. But why debut, when you cannot get episode 2 until April? Makes no sense.
Maybe CBS had planned to run Elsbeth on March 7th and didn’t know they were getting bumped from the State of the Union address until recently. If not, then they should’ve waited until April to start the new series.
My Tracker question is “Has Reenie passed the bar in every state?” Maybe I’ve always misunderstood how lawyers operate, but I’m pretty sure you can’t practice law in a state unless you’ve passed the bar in that state. We’ve seen her in Oregon and Idaho, and I’m assuming she’ll be popping up in the future as well.
Depending on the state she passed the bar in, there may be reciprocity. New York lawyers for instance can practice in AK, AZ, AR, CO, CT, DC, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, and WY.
They can not practice in New Jersey. New Jersey does not have reciprocity. However, if you have been practicing long enough you can make an application to handle a specific case in a jurisdiction. It is known as a pro hac vice application.
As we all learned in “My Cousin Vinny” lol
As far as I am aware, there isn’t reciprocity to practice, just to be admitted to the bar without taking the exam, sometimes only for experienced attorneys who have practiced a certain number of years. They need to do all of the paperwork and pay the bar dues/licensing fee. If things are still as they were 30 years ago when I was admitted, most jurisdictions only allow waivers for attorneys from states with reciprocal rules. There were a few exception. DC allowed new attorneys to waive in within three years of taking the multistate exam and experienced attorneys to waive in after practicing five years in the previous seven. They can also move to appear pro hac vice, as Rich mentioned.
8) As usual, “The Voice” has its coaches on the promo photo.
Not a cast photo of the singers in the competition.
That shows what “The Voice” is truly about–the coaches, their poses, and their banter.
Yes, the coaches are the selling point to get the audience to tune in, not the unknown contestants.
I do wish the Voice did a better job of promoting previous winners so we actually knew when they had music coming out.
For Shogun,
I assumed that they trimmed Blackthorne’s hair and beard down because it was gross and full of filth. It was easier to just get it real close cropped but they were nice and didn’t shave him totally.
Fire Country was barely fair last season. Terrible acting. This season is even worse. I can’t with that lady who has taken over 3 Rock. Way over the top. Almost unwatchable.
I stopped watching.
Thank you!
Finally someone else is saying this.
I concluded that Fire Country was goofy storyand unwatchable by the 3 or 4 episode of the first season and stopped watching.
I can’t remember the details now but his family entanglement and that every other fire he’s not following orders and taking goofy risks.
I don’t understand the fascination TVLine and readers have for it.
There are many other better shows that are overlooked.
18: I did think it was odd that they didn’t show Cruz’s wife. I just told myself she was there but just off screen.
20: Way too much filler on Survivor. The right person was voted off.
Re “Elsbeth”: That was a dumb plot point. Even someone who typically switches the i and e in words with “ee” sounds in them wouldn’t misspell “forfeiting” as “forfieting.”
Re “So Help Me Todd”: Susan’s character follows the typical TV rule that to show a “smart” woman, you take a drop-dead gorgeous actress and put her in glasses. Of course, Inga Schlingmann is both smart and beautiful (she won the Miss Manhattan pageant while attending NYU).
13. When I saw that, I assumed her name WAS the text (along with the heart emojis). My question was, how did she happen to know Angie’s number by heart? But I suppose she could have had the contacts transferred from her old phone.
Same! The text showed both her name and phone number, and unless tv phones work differently than real phones (which is totally possible) they only show the phone number if it’s *not* from a contact.
18. I’d like to know where Casey & Sylvie’s parents were. Thought that was odd, too.
26. Are you kidding me? Usually Benson has almost all of the dialogue on the show & the men are at the most background players even Fin who has been on the show almost as long as Benson. So I don’t think the show needs any more women voices. They have enough of Benson. Actually think it needs more male voices!
Re: Casey’s parents. His Mom killed his Father and once she was released from Prison, she took off with her former cellmate. I don’t remember which season that all happened. If anything, his Sister and Niece could’ve been there.
#13 The text on Will Trent. If you look at the text, it shows the phone# at the top. I think she wrote “Crystal” and then put the hearts. I don’t think her name showed up in the phone.
17. Made me burst out laughing, because I had that same reaction while watching.
18- Did’t Sylvia adopt a baby girl? Was she there? Did I miss it?The baby didn’t get in the car when they were leaving.
And were Casey’s “ boys” there?
Maybe I need to rewatch the show!
The boys scene was very short and fast at the reception in Molly’s.
The baby was there.
Stella was holding the baby girl, and one of the boys that Matt took on put the baby in the car seat.
Fire Country is just the kind of fun show I need on a Friday night but no I didn’t understand why Bodie was so gung ho to parent a kid he barely knows
At least get a definitive DNA test done before you get your hopes up
20. I maintain that after 90 minutes and how the containers was not even 1/4 full, that there was no way they were going to get to fill them in 4 hours. They were already gassing out. So quitting was the right call. (unless there was a strategy they were not smart enough to employ to contain more water per bucket.)
24. What was Lyle’s “girlfriend” up to? and Lyle said he’d be right back. So she didn’t really have that much time to go hack a computer/
I want to like Fire Country, but it’s turning too soap operish.
I agree. It’s part of why I gave up the show after last season. (I primarily gave up the show based on the perfectly ridiculous ending of Episode 22 last year.) I might have stuck with the show if it had focused primarily on the actual firefighting.
I concluded that Fire Country was too soap opera-ish by the 3 or 4 episode of the first season and stopped watching.
I don’t understand the fascination TVLine and readers have for it.
There are many other better shows that are overlooked.
3) Anne Hathaway pointed out on the red carpet that she was wearing cerulean and a belt to honor Devil Wears Prada
16) plus at the beginning of The Good Doctor episode they were told the baby is underweight!
27) I’m Jewish and I recognized the stigmata before stabler
20. I believe that Survivor now knows they will have XXL episodes, so no I don’t think it was filler. The more Survivor the better, IMO. As far as Jelinsky’s ‘explanation’ – no, I don’t believe him so no sympathy.
14. That actually makes sense about Monica though. I think they even mentioned it in the episode – “Elijah is probably bankrolling her”…. now I think it’s possibly someone else but we’ll see how it plays out.
15. Did they not know this already played out very similarly to Atwater on Chicago P.D…and will probably end the same way once she finds out everything.
13-it disgusted me they had a boy making a gun as a school science project on will Trent
14-i love the Rookie but having the same lawyer for every bad guy is dumb
22- I am thrilled miss scarlet is returning for season 5
23-Trishelle is only one left that should and deserves to win on traitors
What does Trishelle deserve to win? They are all playing the game within the rules set.
Just because they are all playing the game within the rules doesn’t mean they all equally deserve to win though. For example the housewives have largely been floating by because they have known they have protection at the roundtable and unknown to them they were generally protected from murder as long as they weren’t doubting Phaedra. They have also largely refrained from really making moves or calling powerful players out beyond when they can hide behind bigger targets
Trishelle on the other hand hasn’t largely had that protection and hasn’t been afraid to call people out and more often than not correctly. She has often picked it things up before others have noticed it (such as Phaedra’s eye twitch when she is lying, which is absolutely there) and has always been thinking a few steps ahead rather than just the next vote. And unlike some others she has done that without coming across suspiciously and traitor like.
So while anyway you win is fine as winning anyway you can is the aim, there are ways to play any game that carry more respect and hence are more deserving of a win
Of all the shows/comments here, the one I think is the most “wrong” is premiering a show then announcing it won’t be on again for over a month. Ellsberg is a. quirky show, which I like, but I realize not everyone else does. I think CBS is not exactly helping Elsbeth to be a success. I certainly hope I’m wrong.
On Netflix’s The Tourist, why didn’t Helen try to break out the window inside the room she was trapped in once she got free? I mean it was right there and there were heavy things in the room she could have broken it with.
Elsbeth- I was just a little obsessed with the fact that Stephen Moyer was the first big guest star; ie her costar on True Blood!
Survivor needs to go back to 60 minute episodes.. everything longer than that just gets boring
I quit watching for that exact reason.
18. I was wondering where Chief Boden’s wife Donna was (I’m always glad to see her) as well as Joe Cruz’s wife.
Why *does* Yasmine Al-Bustami not appear in every NCIS: Hawai’i episode, though? Is this common knowledge? She’s my favourite character, so it’s always a bummer when she doesn’t show up. :/
I think the main reason is budget. They had Tori Anderson not appear in some episodes in the first season, probably to save money.
Maybe she (or another actor) will skip one of the future eipsodes when Yasmine will be around.
Except Lucy is supposed to be a member of the main cast, the core team. Whistler came and went, sure, but it’s not expected that she would be in every episode. Unless it’s case related or with Lucy because of their relationship. Last season it was due to other commitments, which is why they wrote it, into the story until a certain point. They should be at least saying in the episode. Because this last episode. Jesse was busy on the case, with the criminals. You would think they would have needed their other teammate. Instead they put Whistler into the field. Sure, it was about a federal deposit going missing, but she’s not a member of the team fully… Lucy is.
Last season she was doing a side project. The Chosen I believe it was. And I think it interferred with the Hawaii schedule of taping. This season, I am told her part is over, but she still has other stuff she has to do related to the show, or some other stuff. This might not be the only episode she is missing from… The show really needs to tell us what Lucy is doing. Because the sudden missing, is annoying when she should be on the team.
