Coleen Rooney led stars at an International Women's Day event in Manchester - and shared details about her Wagatha Christie court victory that gripped the nation last year. Coleen was in her trademark stylish form - showing off her new bobbed hairstyle and wearing a lilac suit for the glittering event held at Harvey Nichols in Manchester city centre.

Coleen was asked to speak at the event which was organised by her friend, event organiser Julie Perry, who famously planned her wedding to former Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney. Coleen was joined by showbiz stars and invited guests, including a host of her fellow footballer's wife friends, at Harvey Nichols.

Speaking on stage at the event, she told of how she never thought her now famous social media posts exposing Rebekah Vardy's account for leaking stories about her would go as viral as it did. It went on to become the "Wagatha Christie" court case that gripped the nation after Vardy decided to sue Rooney for libel over the social media posts.

But the judge ruled in Rooney's favour and dismissed Vardy's claim. Coleen went on to tell her side of the story in a Netflix documentary, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story.

At the event in Manchester, she was interviewed by former Emmerdale star Sheree Murphy on stage at the event inside Harvey Nichols. When she was asked why she wanted to do the Netflix documentary about the court case, she said: "Everyone else had their say and opinion and thought they knew what was going on. But they didn’t.

"It was my story to tell and and I thought was my time to say how it was and put it to bed."

On putting out "that" tweet, she said: "I put it out there and being in the public eye I thought it would get some attention, but not as much as it did!"

When asked if she now felt she had "closure", Coleen replied: "I feel closure now. I did the day we stepped out of court."

The IWD event at Harvey Nichols also saw former Real Housewives of Cheshire star Nermina Pieters-Mekic speak movingly on stage with Sheree. Nermina received a shock diagnosis with breast cancer in September.

Nermina shared with the audience her heartfelt story of how she dealt with this life-changing moment and how the simple things in life helped drive her determination to overcome her illness.

She told the audience: "I’m still in the middle of treatment but I feel like the worse is behind me and I’m feeling positive.

"I stayed positive by celebrating those little wins every day. Small things that keep you going, and remember nothing lasts forever."
