Rescued baby hedgehog turns out to be a hat bobble

Finding a stricken hoglet lifeless and abandoned, the animal lover did what anyone would do. She scooped it up, placed it in a cardboard box with some food, and took it to a wildlife hospital.

Only once there did the vets realise that it was the fluffy bobble from a hat.

Janet Kotze, hospital manager of Lower Moss Nature Reserve and Wildlife Hospital in Knutsford, Cheshire, said she “couldn’t believe what she was seeing” after realising it was not a hedgehog.

She said of the incident last Thursday: “It was the first admission of the day. The lady came in with a box, she said she had found this baby hedgehog on the pavement and it was cold and she picked it up.
