A cliff rescue stretcher was used to take a "seriously injured" patient down "tricky stairs" out of a Llandudno hotel. The coastguard was called to help the Wales Air Ambulance Service, who flew the patient to hospital for "urgent treatment".

A Llandudno Coastguard Facebook statement page statement said: "We were called out yesterday (Wednesday) to assist our colleagues at Wales Air Ambulance Charity with extracting a seriously injured casualty from a local hotel.

"We were able to use our cliff rescue stretcher to negotiate some tricky stairs and steps and then convey the casualty to the helicopter on the prom. We then kept the area clear whilst the helicopter took off and conveyed the casualty to hospital for some urgent treatment.

"We are well equipped to deal with a range of medical emergencies and we frequently use our cliff rescue skills and equipment to assist our colleagues in other emergency services to get casualties out of some very tricky situations.

"If you are aware of anyone in any danger or distress anywhere around the coast, please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
