Hull City's recruitment throughout this season has generated plenty of interest both in East Yorkshire and further afield raising expectations among the Tigers fanbase.

Going into the final nine games of the season, City are seventh in the Championship three points and a place outside the top six, but they do have a game in hand on Norwich who occupy that all-important final play-off berth going into the busy Easter weekend which sees Liam Rosenior's side host Stoke on Good Friday followed by a mouthwatering visit to Yorkshire rivals Leeds United on Monday night.

Expectations have increased somewhat around East Yorkshire following an exciting period of recruitment both last summer and again in January, with owner Acun Ilicali backing his manager and the club's push for promotion to the Premier League.

Former Tigers loan player Ray Parlour, however, believes City's recruitment, which has seen the likes of Anass Zaroury, Fabio Carvalho, Liam Delap, Ryan Giles and Tyler Morton arrive on temporary deals from the Premier League, doesn't add any extra pressure onto boss Liam Rosenior, himself navigating his way through his first play-off-seeking campaign.

“No, I don’t think so," he told FLW when asked if there was extra pressure because of the standard of recruitment. “Liam Rosenior has improved the club’s position over the past two seasons and this year will see Hull City finish the highest they have for a number of years."

Parlour, who also played for Arsenal with distinction for 12 years across more than 300 appearances, has backed Rosenior to go again next term, if the play-offs ultimately prove a step too far in the coming weeks.

“It will be great for them to secure a play-off place, but should they miss out, then I would keep Rosenior as they can go one better next year," added the 51-year-old from Romford. “You can’t keep chopping and changing managers and as mentioned earlier, he has the backing of the players and are having a great season.”
