Iconic product disappears from Primark shelves for good but shoppers are already hailing it’s replacement as ‘the best’
Primark employees shared a guide on how to look after your replacement product to get lots of life out of it
PRIMARK has ditched a very popular beauty product - but shoppers are HAPPY about it and insist the replacement is “the best”.
The fast fashion giant has made a number of sustainability pledges over the last two years, and scrapping the product is just one part of that.

The Primark Cares strategy sets out nine commitments to help the brand become a more sustainable and circular business.
One of these commitments is: “We will nurture nature, halve carbon emissions and eliminate waste.”
So, it makes sense that bosses in its beauty division have decided to ditch single-use cotton pads from every Primark store.
As of this week, they are no longer available to buy.
“We are delighted to share that Primark Beauty has phased out all single-use disposable cotton pads from its UK stores and is encouraging consumers to instead opt for its reusable pad options,” a spokesperson said.
“Primark Beauty is committed to do more to reduce waste across the business and is encouraging its customers to do the same.
“Designed to be used time and time again, Primark Beauty’s reusable cleansing pads give you maximum mileage per pad.
“As well as this the reusable pads are made from a minimum of 50% recycled polyester.”

The reusable pads already have a cult following on social media, with fans insisting they’re “so soft” and “do the job so well”.
One shopper even described them as the “best things she’s bought recently”.
They’re designed to mimic the function of disposable cotton pads, but can be washed after every use to avoid unnecessary waste.
A 10 pack of the “cleansing pads” will set you back just £2 - meaning each pad works out at 20p a pop.
The retailer also sells “glow pads” which double up as cleansing pads, but are thicker and more fibrous.
These are available in a multi-size 3 pack in black and small-size 5 pack in an array of pastel colours, with both sets costing £2.50.
How to look after your reusable pads
According to Primark employees, bleach and fabric conditioner are huge no-gos when it comes to washing your beloved cleansing pads.
“Use a small amount of mild detergent - but not too much or they’ll feel scratchy,” they said.
“Avoid bleach and fabric softener, and let them air dry.”
They also recommended washing in cold water on a delicate cycle “to reduce risk of fibre damage”.

That means your best bet is chucking the cleansing pads into your washing machine when you do your next load of underwear and smalls.
To whiten, you can add a splash of lemon juice.
