Brennan Johnson has criticised Tottenham's lack of cutting edge in their 1-1 draw away to West Ham.

Tottenham took the lead in the London derby, with Johnson finding the net in the fifth minute.

However, the lead lasted just 14 minutes as Kurt Zouma equalised for West Ham.

Tottenham had plenty of opportunities to regain control of the game but they ended up taking just a point from the clash at London Stadium.

Johnson told TNT Sports: 'We're disappointed, for large parts of the game we dominated. We lacked that bit of cutting edge. With the performance, (we're) reasonably happy.'

Despite his disappointment at dropping points, Johnson is pleased with the progression that he is making in his first season at Tottenham.

The 22-year-old revealed that he is adapting to Ange Postecoglou's style of play.

He said: 'Every week is just more and more learning. Every week I feel more confident.

'In my first couple of months I wasn't in those positions.'

Reflecting on Tottenham's overall performance, Johnson described the goal that his team conceded as unacceptable.

He said: 'The style of play is unbelievable, there's some errors we need to cut out. Conceding from a set-piece like that isn't acceptable.

'We just need more time to gel and we want to finish as strong as we can.'

Postecoglou agreed with Johnson that Tottenham weren't clinical enough.

He told TNT Sports: 'They're a strong team. We controlled the game pretty well. They're always going to be a threat from set-pieces. We got into some good areas but our final deicision making wasn't the best.

'Both teams left it all out there. For the mot part it was ok, the effort was there, we need to be more clinical.'

Following the draw, Tottenham remain in fifth place in the Premier League and are two points behind Aston Villa, who are fourth.

Tottenham are back in action on Sunday when they host Johnson's former club Nottingham Forest.
