Conor McGregor's new film Roadhouse has made history with 50 million views on Amazon Prime since its release.

The film - which is a re-imagining of the cult classic 1980's movie starring Patrick Swayze - stars McGregor alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the Irish MMA star's first leading role in a film.

Since its release, McGregor has earned plenty of praise for his performance with many fans and critics believing he has a genuine future in Hollywood.

"50 million viewers over two weekends," the UFC star said. "That’s $750m at the box office. In 10 days! Insane! Congrats to all the team, it was a pleasure."

The plot sees Gyllenhaal play a former UFC star turned bouncer who must deal with McGregor's character.

While the Irishman has plenty of fights on screen, he is now almost three years without a fight in the UFC Octagon. However, despite initially claiming that he had heard nothing from the MMA promotion regarding a fight, McGregor has since claimed that he is in line to return to action this Summer.

"We got confirmation a few days ago that it's all systems go and the Mac, The Notorious will be returning in the UFC octagon this summer," McGregor told ESPN in March.

As for who his opponent will be, the most likely option is Michael Chandler. The Notorious coached opposite Chandler on the Ultimate Fighter last year, and the American has been pushing for a fight ever since, even turning up on WWE Raw recently to call the Dubliner out.

"The man doesn't shut up. I seen him on Raw. I like Mike - I'm going to bust him up. I'm going to bust Mike up," said McGregor.
