Nadhim Zahawi has called for the Post Office to be investigated for corporate manslaughter over deaths connected to the Horizon scandal.

The Conservative MP, who questioned the former Post Office chief executive Paula Vennells at the business, innovation and skills committee in 2015, told ITV News that Vennells lied to the committee and there should be a “thorough police investigation”.

A recording obtained by ITV News revealed a meeting where Second Sight, the forensic accountant commissioned by the Post Office to carry out an independent investigation into the IT system, urged senior Post Office staff to give them the information they were promised about remote access to Horizon at Fujitsu’s Bracknell headquarters.
