Spring has sprung! National Trust are encouraging everyone to share the joy of the UK’s blossom season with #BlossomWatch week-20th - 28th April. Bringing all generations outside, boosting tourism and helping people connect with our nature, so be sure to share your images on social media with #BlossomWatch. I planted a new blossom tree for the Trust in East Grinstead on Moat Road, a couple of years back and was delighted to see it’s blooming brilliantly.
I was delighted to join the relaunch of the park tennis courts at Mount Noddy Rec in the town too. We’ve seen multiple boosts to park tennis courts in our area with £55,392.33, transforming tennis courts at Bolnore-Woodside Tennis, Cuckfield Recreation Ground, St John’s Park Burgess Hill, and Victoria Park Haywards Heath. This funding is a joint investment by the LTA and UK Government supporting a new generation of tennis players and maybe Wimbledon Champions!
This week Southern Water were in Staplefield to discuss a wetlands, they’re investing £4.5million into. Residents have however expressed deep concerns, particularly during my recent big In Conversation Q&A event in Horsted Keynes, so it was crucial we all shared concerns directly to them in the village.
My next Business Breakfast is coming up in Burgess Hill, following on from the success of ‘A Taste from Across Mid Sussex’ in Westminster and our previous local events. Another fantastic chance to join up with fellow businesses and entrepreneurs to give an extra boost to our strong and thriving local economy. Please do apply to join us for another great morning of learning and sharing in a fabulous venue, Up Market 22, that supports many other small traders. Speakers will be confirmed shortly!
I’m very pleased we’re doubling down in delivering for pensioners and welcoming a £900 boost for 30,379 pensioners in Mid Sussex this month. As well as increasing State Pensions by 8.5%, putting more money in pensioners’ pockets than ever before. This thanks to the Conservative Government’s plan to protect the Triple Lock. As well as a tax cut worth £900 a year for working people in our area.
