A driver was rushed to hospital after crashing into a lamppost near the University of Birmingham in a suspected medical episode. The collision happened near A38 Bristol Road and Pebble Mill Road in Edgbaston at 4.27am today, Wednesday, April 10.
Paramedics said the driver, a woman, was treated for a suspected medical episode at the scene before being transported by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Driver 'crashed after suspected medical episode' - ambulance statement
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an RTC on Bristol Road in Edgbaston at 4.27am and sent an ambulance to the scene.
"Crews arrived within six minutes to find a car had come off the road and collided with a lamppost.
"The driver, a woman, was treated for a suspected medical episode before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment."
