Monte Carlo Masters: Grigor Dimitrov Rekindles ‘Old Friend’ Banter with Serena Williams’ Ex-Coach in a 12-Year Reunion

The equation between coaches and players is unpredictable! In the same way, Serena Williams’ former coach Patrick Mouratoglou has been that person who has shared wisdom and knowledge with a lot of tennis players, including her rumored ex-boyfriend, Grigor Dimitrov. While the French tennis coach was the common ground between both the tennis players, even today, after facing a lot of ups and downs in his equation with Dimitrov, both of them were seen having some fun together on the court.
As a 32-year-old ATP tennis star who will be seen playing at the Monte Carlo Masters, Mouratoglou is also a part of the tournament because of his current player, Holger Rune. During a recent practice session, a video of both of them having fun on the clay court was shared by a Dimitrov fan.
While the French coach reshared the video over his Instagram story and tagged the Bulgarian tennis player as an “old friend,” In the video, the Miami Open finalist was seen having some fun as he pushed the 53-year-old tennis coach onto the ground in between practices.

Subsequently, as the 23-time Grand Slam Champion’s coach was not aware of the push that came from Dimitrov, it created a lighthearted humorous moment between the two. However, do you know that the former Williams coach was even a part of the Dimitrov coaching team before he joined her camp in 2012?
Even though both popular tennis players were rumored to be in a relationship, Mouratoglou kind of suffered when the rumors started spreading, creating problems for the players. But even after working for Williams for such a long time, he has always cherished his connection with the former third-ranked tennis player.

‘lot of love between us’ – Mouratoglou’s strong connection with Dimitrov
After both of them parted ways in 2012, Mouratoglou mentioned in his book, “We shared a long embrace. There is a lot of love between us and immense mutual respect. I felt like crying. I know he did too. However, our pride stopped that happening.”
Their relationship held firm despite gossip and competing desires, in such a way that it was highlighted by the fact that Dimitrov was reluctant to ask Mouratoglou to stop coaching Serena Williams, but it was not possible. However, their bond, based on common experiences and understanding, remained unwavering even after Dimitrov made the agonizing decision to leave the academy.
