Two lovers murdered a woman before her body was cut into pieces using “power tools” and dumped in a south London park, a court was told.

Human remains found in Rowdown Fields in New Addington on April 2 were identified as those of Sarah Mayhew, 38, from Croydon. Prosecutors believe she was murdered on March 8.

Gemma Watts, 48, of New Addington, and Steven Sansom, 44, of Sutton in Surrey, have been charged with Mayhew’s murder and preventing a lawful and decent burial. Sansom faces three charges of making indecent images of a child. The suspects appeared in separate hearings at the Old Bailey on Thursday.
