Catalans Dragons hooker Alrix Da Costa has emerged as a player in high demand as his contract in Perpignan comes to a close. Rugby League Live understands the Frenchman, off-contract at the end of the season, is courting interest from a number of Super League clubs as May 1st approaches.

The 26-year-old caught the eye in Catalans' recent victory over St Helens, a match in which he was named player of the match, with several clubs exploring the possibility of signing him for 2025. It is believed that he is yet to sign a new deal with the Dragons and come May 1st, will be free to negotiate a contract with clubs elsewhere.

Capped nine times by France, Da Costa has been a long-serving talent at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, having made his debut as an 18-year-old back in 2016. He has gone on to make more than 100 appearances for the club since including five this season.

Catalans, who fielded ten French players in their win over St Helens last weekend, are thought to be keen on retaining him but will have to fend off interest from the UK should they wish to do so. There are a number of clubs looking for hookers next year which has seen interest in Da Costa spike heading into the recruitment season.

The Dragons are already rumoured to be losing three of their existing players, with Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken both heavily linked with Wakefield Trinity while Hull KR have been attributed in having a strong interest in Tom Davies.
