McDonald's just slashed the price of its most iconic brekkie - and we're lovin' it.

The fast-food chain has confirmed its Sausage & Egg and Egg McMuffins are being reduced as part of a new deal. Customers will now save up to £2.49 if they buy the brekkie with a hot drink - making it much cheaper than Greggs.

It comes as McDonald's also debuts its new spring menu, featuring the highly-anticipated return of the Biscoff Mcflurry and Galaxaxy Caramel Pie - whilst firm faves like Halloumi Fries and the iconic Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry were discontinued once again yesterday.

The McMuffin can now be bought as part of a new deal

From today (April 17) McDonald's customers will be able to pick up a single Sausage & Egg or Egg McMuffin along with a regular hot drink, soft drink or bottled drink for £2.79. The deal, which is available every morning until 11am, excludes fancy drinks like the Toffee Latte, McCafe Iced drinks and Milkshakes.

But if you're happy with a cappuccino or Diet Coke, you're laughing. Based on the most common McDonald's pricing in the UK, purchasing a Sausage and Egg McMuffin and a coffee as separate items would cost £5.28 (or £4.88 if you prefer the Egg McMuffin).

In fact, the savings are so good it trumps Greggs's beloved breakfasts The bakery chain offers three varieties of deals: Breakfast roll meal deal (includes one filling. Prices start from £2.85), Pastry and regular hot drink (From £2.85), and a Breakfast baguette and regular hot drink (From £3.95).

Greggs customers can opt for a regular hot drink or Orange Juice as part of their meal deal - but a regular speciality hot drink comes with a 30p surcharge. Soup is also excluded as a drink.
